DocuCoders was created because Contemporary Consultants Company, started by Susan Bouffard, LNHA. M.Ed., RHIA, in 1981, has evolved into a very busy health information management consulting business. As time progressed, it became evident that the importance of coding and reimbursement were elevated to new standards and regulations.
Eventually, with changing technologies and the need for more training and specialization, healthcare entities realized that the volume of work was greater than those who were available to code. Providers began looking looking to other sources for assistance in maintaining lower DNFB (discharged, not final billed) levels. Contemporary Consultants Company was contacted and subsequently engaged on numerous occasions by various clients to assist with coding needs. In order to better serve client's needs in this arena, it was decided to dedicate a significant portion of our talent specifically to outsource coding and to partner with Alavent Internet Technologies.
